Thomas Partey will be available for Ghana- Ivory Coast friendly- GFA
Although midfielder Thomas Partey will miss Ghana’s friendly against Morocco on Tuesday, June 7, 2021, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has revealed that he will be available for the friendly against Ivory Coast.
Earlier on Monday, reports claimed that the Arsenal midfielder had been sacked from the camp of the Black Stars for reporting to late.
Rubbishing those claims, the Ghana FA has revealed that Thomas Partey secured permission from Black Stars head coach CK Akonnor to miss tomorrow’s friendly.
“Thomas traveled to Cape Coast on Thursday to meet Coach Charles Akonnor over some personal issues. After the meeting which lasted for about an hour, the Coach excused him from the trip to Morocco – and asked him to report to camp for the second game against Ivory Coast,” a communique on the GFA website has said this evening.
It continues, “As the 1st Deputy Captain of the Black Stars, Thomas later joined his colleagues in training to show solidarity and support before leaving for Accra. The Arsenal midfielder will therefore team up with the rest of the squad on Thursday when the team returns from Morocco.”
The Black Stars’ friendly with the Atlas Lions will be played in Rabat tomorrow at 20:00GMT
