Resurgent Hearts of Oak stun Medeama with 2-0 win at Accra Sports Stadium
Ambitious Hearts of Oak on Sunday evening posted an emphatic 2-0 win over Medeama SC to stay top of the Ghana Premier League standings.
The Phobians last weekend were stopped in their tracks when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Great Olympics after going on a five-game winning streak.
Returning to action at the Accra Sports Stadium today, Hearts of Oak hosted Medeama SC in a matchday 29 encounter of the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.
Needing a win to stay in the race for the league title, both teams set up strong with the aim of amassing the maximum points.
In an exciting game that ensued between the two sides, Hearts of Oak led at the break courtesy of a strike from midfielder Salifu Ibrahim in the 41st minute.
Later in the second half, the home team played well and doubled their lead in the 59th minute after Benjamin Afutu Kotey also registered his name on the scoresheet.
With Medeama SC unable to equalize, Hearts of Oak cruised to a 2-0 win and hence gets to stay on top of the league standings.
