Janet Egyir was Hasaacas Ladies heroine of the night though goals from Veronica Appiah, Perpetual Agyekum and Azumah Bugre ensured our women’s team ended the game as victors.

With a fairly balanced attendance due to the Covid restrictions, almost 6,000 streaming on the video feed and with tens of thousands following updates on social media Coach Yusif Basigi and his lads added to the already secured domestic double.

Hasmal didn’t wait for long, Veronica Appiah just after the kick off whistle scored at a minute showing on the scoreboard – but that didn’t last as the Nigerians drew level and begun to dominate affairs.

Milot Pokuaa couldn’t continue the game and was replaced by Success Ameyaw in the 4th minute. The attacker had taken too many knocks.

Perpetual Agyekum was handed a free kick about 38 metres off goal and upon the 4th time trying, this time the woodwork wouldn’t come between her and goal as Hasmal secured the necessary lead once more at the 42nd minute to end the half.

We held our own at the back thanks in no small measure to Janet Egyir, Faustina Nyame Aidoo at the heart of the defense flanked by Perpetual Agyekum and Regina Antwi at the right and left respectively.

The second half started at a similar fashion with the Rivers State side starting from where they left off in the first half – but for the tactical masterpiece of the Coach Yusif Basigi, deploying a system that keeps the Nigerians in control yet catching them on the break at will.

Azumah Bugre added to the lead in the second half to ensure there was a breathing space for the technical team.

Try as the Nigerians did, there was little chance with Grace Banwaa between them and goal.

The game ended and Hasmal had secured the slot to the CAF Women’s Champions League and the coveted trophy and the gold medals at stake.

The Giantess have added to the only international trophy held by the Giants in 1982 surprisingly also beating Nigeria’s Spartans of Owerri now known as Heartland FC.

The team is expected back to Takoradi with a warm welcome by the entire country and a preparation to the CAF Champions League tournament also commences soon.

Champions and Congratulations Yusif Basigi and the entire team.
