Prior to the start of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League, the club acquired the services of Brazilian playmaker, Fabio Gama on a two-year deal as a free agent.

The attacking midfielder was the star of the club in the first half of the season.

However, the Porcupine Warriors also signed Brazilian striker Michel Vinicius ahead of the second half of the season.

After four matches played with a goal, Vinicius contract was terminated by the club.

Asked about his side’s decision to recruit Brazilian players, Nana Yaw Amponsah revealed the similarity in the style of play between Ghanaians and Brazilians has been the rationale behind the club’s quest for players from Brazil.

“We’ve come to appreciate that Ghanaians and Brazilians, we have a similar style of play [hence the decision to bring them in,” he told Accra based Starr FM.

“Fabio Gama came in with his family, as that was going to be what makes him settle. Vinicius came in at a time he had just divorced his wife, he was missing his daughter and that was affecting him,” he added.

Nana Yaw Amponsah also disclosed that the club is not working on bringing in any Brazilian at the moment while also revealing that there are going to be additions to the Kotoko squad.
