As we reported earlier, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to appoint a new Black Stars coach today following the dismissal of CK Akonnor and his assistants on Monday.
The GFA has tasked a three-man committee including Vice President of the FA Mark Addo, Upper East Regional Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Salifu Zida, and Dr. Randy Abbey to find a Head Coach and Assistant Coaches for the Black Stars.
Charles Akonnor’s future came under serious scrutiny following an uninspiring performance at the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana beat Ethiopia 1-0 at home and lost by the same margin away to South Africa at the FNB Stadium.
Coach Akonnor won four, drew two, and lost five of his 11 games in charge of the team.
The announcement is expected to come on today as the deadline given to the three member committee to appoint a new coach ends today.
