In the afternoon game, South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies edged Kenya’s Vihiga Queens 1-0.

Melinda Kgadiete scored just two minutes into the game with a chip over the goalkeeper for the only goal of the game.

Meanwhile, The Association’s Sports of Forces Armed Royal (ASFAR) of Morocco thumped Nigeria’s Rivers Angels 3-0 to go top of Group B after the first matches played.

Sanaa Mssoudy bagged a hat-trick to inspire the Moroccans to a commanding victory in the first-ever African Women’s Champions League.

Mssoudy scored a stunning solo goal in the 31st minute after sitting down the entire backline of the Nigerian giants.

The forward scored again in 74th and 84th minutes to complete a historic hat-trick.

ASFAR will play Vihiga Queens while Mamelodi Sundowns and Rivers Angels face off in the second Group B matches on Tuesday, November 9.

Sanaa Mssoudy, who adjudged woman of the match, said: “I’m very happy to be the first player to score a hat-trick in WCL, I dedicate it to my father who passed away.

“My favorite goal of the hat-trick was the second one because I showed my capabilities and skills in it. It’s all due to my team’s efforts.”
