The 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Benin on Sunday has been brought into disrepute after an accusation of foul play was made.
DRC seemingly qualified for the play-offs after beating Benin 2-0 in their top-of-the-table Group J clash at Stade des Martyrs de la Pentecote on Sunday.
This result took Les Leopards to 11 points in the group, while the away side finished second, just one point behind.

Dieumerci Mbokani scored the opening goal from the penalty spot for the home team, before Ben Malango later doubled their lead in the 75th minute.
However, that tie is now shrouded in controversy after Benin submitted a complaint to FIFA, accusing DR Congo of breaking FIFA laws in their victory, according to Algerian journalist Walid Ziani.
The home side is believed to have made four substitutions at four different stoppages in the second half, while the laws state that a team can make five changes but only during three stoppages.
A similar incident occurred earlier this year, when VfL Wolfsburg was disqualified from Germany’s DFB-Pokal cup competition for using too many substitutes during their first-round clash with Preussen Munster.
