World Football governing body, FIFA is set to commence a review of the match between Ghana and South Africa after receiving a complaint from the South Africa FA.
The Black Stars last Sunday defeated the Bafana Bafana by a goal to nil to win Group G of the African qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
On the matchday, the hosts were awarded a penalty kick by referee Maguette Ndiaye after defender Daniel Amartey had been fouled in the 18-yard box.
Left disappointed after the match, SAFA has filed an official complaint to FIFA raising concern on “questionable decisions” by the officials of the day.
Today, FIFA in a reply to SAFA has confirmed receipt of the complaint and says it will review the game.
“FIFA has received a complaint from the South African FA in relation to this matter and will review it. Please understand we cannot comment further at this stage,” FIFA said on Tuesday in response to a media query over the status of the complaint by SAFA.
