Gabonese super star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been stripped of the Arsenal captaincy and will not make the trip to West Ham, according to club sources.
The right decision has been made by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta to strip Aubameyang of the captaincy because of a breach of his non-negotiables in terms of professionalism.
Aubameyang loses captaincy due to late arrival back from France and similar related incidents. Nothing further has happened since win over Southampton, decision to strip him of armband entirely related to these factors.
The athletic report on Aubameyang’s incidents “there are two parts in the club. Those who believe this to be a display of strong management and those who say the affair was an unnecessary case of air dirty laundry in the public.”
Aubameyang was told about the decision to strip him of the captaincy following talks at London Colney on Monday.
Also no indication whether timeline will extend beyond tomorrow’s game. And it would be fair to say there are no guarantees Arteta will offer any.
Football London understands that there are a number of candidates to take over as captain from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, including Martin Ødegaard, Alexandre Lacazette, Ben White & Kieran Tierney. *[@ChrisWheatley_] #afc*
