Senegal’s victorious Africa Cup of Nations squad, led by match-winner Sadio Mane, were given a rousing welcome home as crowds of fans gathered in capital city Dakar and Senegalese president Macky Sall declared a national holiday on Monday to mark the achievement.
President Mackey Sall has also awarded the team $87, 000 each for winning the AFCON as a source of motivation for the players and coaching team. As if that is not enough the President of the country has given each member of the team 0.0494 acres of land in Dakar and 0.124 acres of land in Diamniadio.
Senegal who had appeared twice in the AFCON finals, losing to Cameroon in 2002, the team was captained by current manager and AFCON winner Aliou Cisse and again to Algeria in 2019.
