Véron Mosengo-Omba, the General Secretary of the Confederation of African Football (Caf) said he is “very satisfied” with the progress of the work underway in Côte d’Ivoire to host the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

Mosengo-Omba made this known during a meeting with Ivory Coast Prime Minister Patrick Achi on Wednesday, February 9 in Abidjan.

“I have noticed that things are progressing very well. The stadiums under construction are jewels. Côte d’Ivoire has set the bar very high,” he said.

For the Caf General Secretary, “the Afcon in Côte d’Ivoire will be the reference in the organization of competitions in the continent.”

Mosengo-Omba also disclosed Caf will open an office in Abidjan at the end of April 2022, with a dozen employees.

The Caf delegation has been in Abidjan since Monday, February 7. They visited the stadiums of Korhogo, San Pedro, and the Félix Houphouët Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.

Prime Minister of Côte d’Ivoire Patrick Achi said “Caf can be reassured that Côte d’Ivoire will live up to expectations and challenges” hosting the 34th edition of the Afcon comes with.

The 2023 Afcon will run from June 23 to July 23, 2023.
