Black Stars coach Otto Addo has named a 27-man squad for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 play offs against Nigeria.
The Back Stars will take on the Super Eagles in two matches scheduled for Kumasi and Abuja respectively as the search for a ticket to November’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar heats up.
Ghana will host the 1st leg at the Baba Yara Sports stadium on Friday, March 25 before travelling to Abuja for the 2nd leg on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
This upcoming encounter is one that will be keenly watched by football fans in Accra and Abuja because of the known rivalry between the two countries.
Seven players were present on the first day of training at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.
The players who took part in the training session included Edmund Addo, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Dennis Korsah, Andy Yiadom, Thomas Partey, Jojo Wollacott and Abdul Manaf Nurudeen.
Head coach Otto Addo and his two assistants, Didi Dramani and George Boateng took the team through a light recovery training, with Technical Advisor Chris Hughton also present.
The winner of the tie will represent the continent at the World football showpiece which is scheduled to take place from November 21 to December
The Super Eagles are seeking to qualify for the global showpiece a 7th time and, since 1994, have missed only one of seven editions. The last of three appearances by Ghana was in 2014.
