The former Sports Minister of the Republic of Ghana Hon Edwin Nii Larte Vanderpuye has stated that betting companies in Ghana have ruined the image of Ghana Football.
According to him, sports betting has ruined the lives of many people and destroyed the image of our beautiful game, hence we should never promote it.
” Infact, in the latest verdict concerning the demotions of Ashantigold and Inter Allies, we need to take a critical look at it because it’s all resulted in the name of so-called sport betting” he said during the parliamentary proceedings on Thursday morning.
“The betting companies have destroyed the image of our beautiful Ghana football, it’s affecting us and it’s very important that we take a look at it because they are influencing our matches” he added.
Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye was a former Sports Journalist and the current Member of Parliament of the Odododiodio constituency, he also served as Minister of Youth and Sports and as Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry in the John Dramani Mahama’s government.
