The club was formed in January 21, 2019 and it is owned by the member of Parliament for Sunyani West Constituency Hon. Ignatius Baffour Awuah.

Nsoatreman Football Club achieved a historic feat at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, June 21, after beating Tamale City with a 2-1 scoreline to earn promotion to the Ghana Premier League.

The two teams came up against each other after finishing the regular Division One League Zone One campaign with 71 points each and levelled on head-to-head, requiring a playoff to decide who joins Kotoku Royals and Samartex to be promoted.

DOL Zone Two Winners- Samartex FC

Following the Timber Giants promotion to the Premier League for the first time, they became the 101th club to play in the Ghana topflight.

Samartex 1996 finished Zone II as leaders with 68 points in the Championship last season, holding off pressure from the likes of Ebusua Dwarfs, New Edubiase, Nzema Kotoko and BYFA to clinch the automatic promotion spot.

They were guided to the Premier League by Henry Wellington the former Hearts of Oak, Kotoko and Nzema Kotoko coach, who took over at early stage of the league in November 2021 from Kobina Amissah and securing promotion in late May, with three games remaining.
