The Ghanaian national football team, known as the Black Stars, has been struggling with a lack of goals in recent matches.
In light of this, former Ghanaian international player Awudu Issaka has called for the recall of striker Felix Afena-Gyan to the national team. Issaka believes that Afena-Gyan is the perfect candidate to solve the Black Stars’ goalscoring problem.
This call to action has sparked debate among football fans and experts in Ghana, with many weighing in on whether or not Afena-Gyan should be given another chance to represent his country on the international stage.
“Afena-Gyan should be recalled to the Black Stars because he possesses some qualities that the current strikers don’t have,” Awuku Issaka told Angel TV.
The US Cremonese attacker Felix Afena-Gyan declined an invitation to join the Ghana U23 team for the 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against Algeria.
Despite the club approving his release, the 20-year-old has refused to join the Black Meteors squad to face Algeria in back-to-back games.
The Ghana FA has communicated all travel arrangements to the Serie A club, but the player has opted not to link up with Ibrahim Tanko’s squad.
