HISTORIC: Owusu Afriyie scores first goal of 2023/24 GPL season as RTU beat Hearts 1-0

The 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season was officially commenced after the uncertainty in the past week.

The start of the new league season was questioned this week after it came to light that Ashanti Gold SC had dragged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to court to place an injunction on the league.

Despite the doubts, the first match of the game league season between Hearts of Oak and Real Tamale United has been played today.

RTU player Owusu Afriyie scored the only goal of the game and goes down in history as the first player to find the back of the net in the 2023/24 League season in an crucial played on Friday evening at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.
