The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle Constituency, Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah has revealed that, his office was not consulted or aware about the sale of Karela United to Hon.Haruna Iddrisu.
This comes after an astute politician, Tamale South MP and former Minority Leader, Hon.Haruna Iddrisu completed the acquisition of financially-stricken Ghana Premier League side, Karela United for a reported deal of $300, 000.( Ghs3.1M).
However, the MP of Ellembelle has disclosed that, he was not aware or informed of the sale of the club despite his numerous contributions since 2016 and even after the demise of club owner Senator David Cobbinah Brigidi.
” Can you imagine, I never had any ideal of the sale of the club, I have been supporting the club but when it came to the sale of the brand I wasn’t consulted, we only heard on radio that, the club has been sold.”
“For how, even let us know and have a round table” but they refused and denied us the access”.
It’s very sad, we would have secured the club here, but the directors and the family think otherwise because its their own property” Armah Buah told Onua TV on Friday.
“Though we made the move after the sale but we were informed nothing can be done but process already done” he added.
Karela United have faced financial difficulties since the death of rich owner Senator David Cobbinah Brigidi in 2018.
The former Nigerian senator brought Metro FC in October 2014 and financial injection, he qualified the team to elite division after three years.
The new owners have officially relocate the club to the Northern part of Ghana and continue playing in the Ghana top-flight.
But it is unknown if the change of name will happen anytime soon or until the end of the season.
Karela United are 7th on the current league standings with 3 points after 2 games.
