Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council (EXCO) member Frederick Acheampong has rebuffed allegations made by former Kumasi Asante Kotoko striker Ransford Osei over allegations that the veteran football administrator took a bribe to facilitate Osei’s inclusion in the Black Stars 2010 FIFA World Cup squad.

Acheampong communicated this in an official statement released in response to Osei’s claims that he paid Acheampong a sum of $20,000 to aid the former Ghana Under 17 and Under 20 star secure a spot in Ghana’s second ever World Cup campaign.

In the statement, Acheampong noted he received the news with “deep shock and surprise” and he finds the allegation “ridiculous” and will “use all legal means including the law courts” to clear his name.

He added his dealings with Osei in his capacity as Marketing and Communications Director for Kessben at the time Osei played for the club was done so with “utmost professionalism”.

He is best remembered for his run with the Ghana Under 17 side that placed fourth in South Korea at the 2007 FIFA World Under 17 World Cup. Osei finished as the second highest top scorer in the competition.

Osei was called up to the Ghana Under 20 side that went on to win the 2009 FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Egypt.
