The Borteyman Sports Complex will complement that Games Village at the University of Ghana to host the African Games.

The Games was originally scheduled to be held in August 2023 but have been postponed until 8 March 2024.

The was due to the impasse between the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), African Sports Confederation, and the African Union (AU).

But even before the impasse, delays in the completion of the facilities for the games meant a postponement was inevitable.

The launch of the 100-day countdown began with an inspection of the under-construction facilities at the Borteyman Sports Complex and the University of Ghana Stadium with Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Sports Minister Mustapha Mustapha Ussif.
