The General Manager of Samartex 1996 believes the club deserves to be crowned winner of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.
Samartex will be away to Karela United in their final away game of the season at Naa Sheriga Sports Complex on Sunday.
And according to Edmund Ackah, his outfit deserves to win the league this season after many years in the lower division.
“We have worked hard for this and it is a well deserved league, congratulations to my team, Dr.Nsienkyire and the entire Samartex group” he told Asempa FM.
Samartex’s victory signifies a rare occurrence in the Ghana Premier League, as no champion has successfully defended their title since Asante Kotoko in 2014.
They now join the esteemed ranks of clubs from the Western Region to claim the Ghana Premier League crown, following in the footsteps of Sekondi Eleven Wise, Hasaacas, and Medeama SC, who won the competition last season.
Across 32 matches, Samartex won 18 games, drew four and suffered 10 defeats powering them to success.
