The retired and current footballers and various schools in the area are pleading with the government to complete the stalled Axim Sports Complex to develop their talents.
In May, the youth of the Municipal shown their displeasure with the leaders following the delay in the completion of the Sports Complex.
A team led by the then Sports Minister, Hon. Isaac Asiamah cut a sod at Axim to begin the construction of an ultramodern sports complex in 2018.
The facility has since not been completed and handed over to the public for use.
This has led the Youth petition leaders to express their dissatisfaction with the situation.
They even gave the leaders an ultimatum of two months to complete the facility and handover else they will use it as it is.
However, the young and retired footballs as well as the various basic schools in the area have also added their voices for the authorities to complete the facility.
However, in an interview with them, they disclosed that, they lack training facility to develope their talents and therefore want to plead with government to complete Axim Sports Complex.
” I am a footballer, there are no football field here, and it is affecting our progress”.
“I don’t have any work, football is my work but it is sad that, the best football place in Nzema now lack sporting facility, look here since 2018, good 7 years still they have not”
” We plead with the government and relevant authorities to help us complete this facility, we need it
for development”
” I am student and Division two player as well, we need the facility, because I have been told there are a lot of facilities, volleyball, Basket ball, so government should complete the project”. they told our correspondent Sir Madiba Mandela.
The delay in the completion of the Sports Complex has by extension affected sports development in Axim and it’s a major concern for the youth of the area.
