Ghana’s run in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers has ended without a win as the Black Stars failed to qualify to the continental championship.
This is the first time in 20 years that Ghana has failed to qualify to compete in the tournament the West African nation has won on four occasions.
hana’s failure to make it to Morocco 2025 was confirmed after drawing 1-1 with Angola in Luanda in the penultimate qualification game and things didn’t end on a positive note as Ghana lost 2-1 to Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ousseini Badamassi and Oumar Sako scored for Niger in the 22nd and 92nd minute respectively with Jerry Afriyie getting the consolation goal for Ghana in the 67th minute after coming off the bench.
Ghana captain Mohammed Kudus had the chance to level the tie but his penalty attempt was saved by Niger goalkeeper Mahamadou Tanja Djibo with the last kick of the game.
The Black Stars failed to win any of its three games at home after losing 1-0 to Angola and drawing goalless with Sudan.
