Patience Adams, Public Relations Officer of the National Sports Authority in the Ashanti Region, has confirmed the Director, Kwame Baah Mensah, is no longer at post.
On Thursday, January 9, 2025, a number of men, alleged to have affiliations to the ruling party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stormed the premises of the NSA to evict Baah Mensah from his office.
According to reports and videos sighted on social media, some people present during the chaos jeered Baah Mensah while he was being escorted from the Baba Yara Stadium.
Ms Adams, speaking in an interview on Max FM’s Sports Pack, revealed the divisions at the NSA due to party affiliations while expressing to what ensued, which she claims had never happened before.
“In the absence of the regional director, ideally it has to be the technical director, but that is a technical office, so we blend the technical director and the administration.
So immediately the administrator is supposed to take over management, and for some reasons they are also laying low.
For now I don’t think we have any leader there,” she said.
With the Minister for Youth and Sports designate yet to be disclosed, operations have been halted till the new government sends out new directives.
