Former Black Satellites goalkeeper Daniel Agyei has stated that members of the 2009 FIFA Under 20 World Cup have received a sum a little over 70,000 Ghana Cedis as dividends on the investment made by Ghana’s government under former President John Evans Atta Mills.
He added that the expected amount from the 10 year investment was 150,000 Ghana Cedis and some members of the winning team aren’t happy about the development.
Agyei, who made saves to get Ghana to win gold at the tournament held in Egypt, stated that despite the challenges over the amount, some members of the 2009 team have gone for the money.
“I was told 11 players or not nine players have gone for theirs. It was promised that in 15 years time, we will get around 150,000 Ghana Cedis but now that’s not the amount we got. We only received 70, 760 something Ghana Cedis we got… so we are talking to one or two people to find answers.”
Fellow member of the Under 20 World Cup winning team, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu also raised concerns over the amount.
