Ghanaian football coach Prince Acheampong, popularly known as ‘Sabuto,’ has passed away after battling an illness.
The King Faisal FC head coach died on Tuesday afternoon after being hospitalised for the past three weeks, sources in Kumasi have confirmed.
Coach Acheampong was appointed head coach of the National Division One League side on January 5, 2025, replacing Barnabas Awuni, who was dismissed following the club’s difficult start to the 2024/25 campaign.
Fondly referred to as ‘Tactical Sabuto,’ the deceased was a seasoned coach with extensive experience in Ghanaian football. Over the years, he held several coaching roles, including a stint as assistant coach of Asante Kotoko during the 2010/11 season. He also managed Dunkwa United and Fabulous Ladies FC.
