The bankroller of Karela United, Haruna Iddrisu has bemoaned the state of football in Ghana following the demise of the famous Asante Kotoko supporter, Pooley, who was stabbed during a league match.
Speaking on the floor of parliament on Tuesday, February 4 monitored by domesticsportsgh.com, the newly appointed Education Minister raised concern about poor officiating in the Ghana Premier League and the violent clashes witnessed during the match between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
“Our football is not in the best of shapes. Look at the incidents in Nsoatreman. Officiating is at its poorest and our Premier League is not watched,” Haruna Iddrisu lamented.
In his speech, Haruna Iddrisu backed the Minister for Sports and Recreation nominee, Kofi Adams, noting that he is confident in the Buem MP’s ability to develop sports in Ghana.
“I have no doubt that Kofi Adams will make President John Dramani Mahama proud as Sports Minister,” Haruna Iddrisu said.
Meanwhile, the Sports Minister nominee has been recommended for approval by the Appointment.
He is now in line for approval this week to officially begin work as Ghana’s Minister in charge of Sports and Recreation.
