Former Black Stars and Ashanti Gold defender Afo Dodoo has indicated Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak’s request for automatic seats on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council is “fine” considering the rich history and large fan base of the respective clubs.Ghana Premier League ticketsFootball match tickets
The two most successful clubs in Ghana football recently submitted a petition to the GFA, following a meeting between the clubs and the GFA.
Their request seeks to guarantee them a permanent place in the highest decision-making body in the country’s football administration.
In an exclusive interview with Citi Sports, Afo Dodoo called for a fair representation for all Ghana Premier League clubs but conceded that Hearts and Kotoko’s position isn’t seemingly justified.
“I don’t know how it’s going to be, but if they are all playing the same league and we have others that they believe they should be there and If they are not there, it will not be good. What about the others? What are they saying? Are they also in agreement? If they are in agreement, so be it. It’s okay because we know Hearts and Kotoko pull the crowds So, if they are there, it will help.
If they are okay with it, I think it’s fine because we all know, like you said, Hearts of Oak and Kotoko they have the crowd. Formerly, Accra Great Olympics, was the third force but there are no more there. So Hearts and Kotoko, yes, if we want to encourage people to come to the stadium, it should also come from them.
