The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, has issued a heartfelt congratulatory message to the Black Queens following their qualification to the semi-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
In an official statement dated July 19, 2025, the Minister, speaking on behalf of the Ministry and the Government of Ghana, lauded the team for their resilience, discipline, and determination in navigating a tough group stage to reach this historic milestone—the first time Ghana has reached the semi-final since 2016.
“This is a proud moment for all of us. You remained focused, built confidence with every match, and showed the quality and resilience worthy of your name,” the Minister said.
He further assured the team of the government’s unwavering support as they prepare for the next crucial stage of the competition. “The Ministry remains committed to providing everything required to keep you focused and ready for what lies ahead,” he stated.
Hon. Adams emphasized that the entire nation stands solidly behind the Black Queens, urging them to stay united and grounded as they aim for gold.
“Go for Gold. Ghana believes in you,” he concluded.
The Black Queens will next face a formidable opponent in the WAFCON 2024 semi-finals as they chase a historic title win in Morocco.
