Retired Ghanaian international Laryea Kingston has reacted to news circulating about his comments on Asamoah Gyan and Andre Dede Ayew’s seemingly strained relationship.
Kingston was quoted as saying Asamoah Gyan is still reeling about how he lost the captaincy of the Black Stars to Andre Dede Ayew.
“Look at someone like Asamoah Gyan, Dede Ayew got the captaincy by force so if you are speaking to Asamoah now he is not happy.
Myself what they did to me for so many years I never supported the Black Stars but just recently I sat down and said it’s over let me focus.”
However, he’s revealed in an interview with Graphic Sports that the comments were about his experience with the team when he was playing.
“I was describing the trauma I went through during the days, I was mistreated for being denied the chance to play in the World Cup, not what has been attributed to me,” Kingston said.
“I never mentioned the captaincy issue as has been attributed to me,” he concluded
