Head coach of Bibiani Gold Stars, Frimpong Manso, has expressed his concerns about his team’s ability to recover in time for Ghana Premier League games due to long distances between host venues.
He said this in a pre game presser ahead of Gold Stars’ game against Kpando Heart of Lions on Sunday, September 29 in Kpando.
Beyond the Lions game, Gold Stars will take on defending Ghana League champions FC Samartex 1996 on Wednesday, October 2 and travelling from the eastern side of Ghana to the Western side of the country in the space of five days clearly doesn’t amuse Gold Stars’ veteran coach.
“Look at the distances we are covering. Look at Bibiani to Kpando and then from Kpando we also have to play on Wednesday at Samreboi. Imagine if we put the two distances together, I mean I wouldn’t say it’s not fair but for us, I think it will be a bit difficult for us in terms of recovery. Other than that I think it would have been a normal routine.”
Sunday’s clash has third ranked Kpando Heart of Lions take on top ranked Gold Stars with both teams heading into the game unbeaten.
The midweek matchup is an outstanding clash due to Samartex’s involvement in the CAF Champions League that had the Samreboi side exit in the second round at the hands of Morocco’s Raja Casablanca.
