English Premier League side West Ham United have announced the departure of manager Julen Lopetegui.
The Spanish coach is said to have performed poorly as results in the first half of the 2024/25 season have not aligned with the ambitions of the club.
Lopetegui left his role together with his backroom staff including Assistant Head Coach Pablo Sanz, Head of Performance Oscar Caro, Head Analyst Juan Vicente Peinado, Fitness Coach Borja De Alba and Technical Coach Edu Rubio.
“The Board would like to thank Julen and his staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wish them every success for the future,” West Hama United said in a statement on Wednesday, January 8.
The former Real Madrid Manager took over the reins after the departure of David Moyes.
He managed 22 games, winning seven and losing 10 in all.
His last game in the English Premier League was against Manchester City, against whom the Hammers lost 4-1.
They currently sit 14th on the log.
The club says the process of appointing a new manager is underway.
