President John Dramani Mahama is set to appoint Nii Lante Vanderpuye, a seasoned sports administrator and politician, as the Minister of Youth and Sports.
Reports indicate that Vanderpuye, a former Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, has been identified as the ideal candidate for the position, with President Mahama convinced of his capability to lead the sector effectively.
Mahama has already submitted his initial set of ministerial nominations to Parliament, fulfilling a key constitutional requirement following his inauguration as President on January 7, 2025.
Vanderpuye previously held the same position in 2015 after a ministerial reshuffle by then-President Mahama, replacing Dr. Mustapha Ahmed. Should he return to the role, expectations are high for him to implement impactful changes once again.
